Ann Allen

tānisi, My name is Ann Allen. I was recently married to my wonderful husband Donald Vern Allen on August 18th, 2007. We have 3 boys, Ron (17), Ryan (16), Donald Joseph (21months) and my beautiful girl, Miranda (15).

I was born and currently live in La Ronge, Saskatchewan. I was raised on the trap line (Churchill & Foster river & area), and at the Indian Residential School in Prince Albert. While going to school in Prince Albert I was eager to go back to my roots on the trap line during our summer/Christmas holidays.

After I moved out of the Residential School I moved into a boarding home and continued grade 10 @ Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert. I moved back to La Ronge and received my diploma for the Adult 12 program through Northlands College in 1999. I further pursued a diploma of First Nations Interdisciplinary Studies Program through First Nations University of Canada via La Ronge Northern Campus in 2003.

After graduating from the First Nations University of Canada I found a job within the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Education Branch in the Cree Resource Unit as a Resource Developer. I love my job and enjoy working with the staff. I further enjoy relearning my Cree language while developing the Cree material. It is a good learning tool for me as well as for others. I am encouraged by my family, friends and CRU staff for having the patience while working toward a positive goal for all people, especially Aboriginal people.

In my spare time I love to spend it with family and friends going on adventurous canoe/skidoo trips on the Churchill and Foster river system. I also found a great past time golfing with family and friends and competing in tournaments during the summer months.
