Leda CorrigalBiography
Tansi! My name is Leda Corrigal. I am originally from Beauval. I also have extended family members in Canoe Lake First Nation and in Ile-a-la-Crosse. Along with my late grandparents in Canoe Lake, there have been many important people in my life who have shaped who I am. My late father, Ralph Laliberte, was a significant and important person in my life in helping me shape my identity and always encouraging me to continue to set goals. Being part of a unique partnership with Northern Lights School Division #113, I joined the Gift of Language and Culture Project in August 2005. I work with the Curriculum Resource Unit in La Ronge as a Curriculum Developer/Consultant. Although indirectly, I have been involved with the project from the beginning in 2003 through my position as an Aboriginal Languages Material Developer. I have been employed with Northern Lights School Division #113 for the past 10 years. During my teaching career, I have taught in the elementary, middle and high school classrooms. I have also taught Cree 100/101 at the Northern Teacher Education Program. My interests have always included the retention of Aboriginal languages, traditions and culture. As a language teacher, I was particularly concerned with the amount of relevant and adequate resources that were available especially in the area of Second Language instruction. I truly enjoy working with people who are genuinely interested and concerned about the quality of Aboriginal languages education. I have a passion to continue to strive on improving curriculum development and researching teaching methods and strategies that would assist language teachers in the classroom. ikosi pitamā
